MY TESTIMONY

My name is Yagya Bahadur Khadka. I was born into a Hindu family in a remote area of Nepal called Dolakha, Jungu. I am the second child in my family, with four other siblings. Not much has changed in Jungu since I was little. There are no health clinics, paved roads, or electricity. Every day that I walked to school, as an older child, it took two hours just to reach my destination. Therefore, a good portion of my day was spent walking, since I had to trek both there and back again. My parents were poverty stricken, especially since we lived in such a remote area of Nepal. It was a constant struggle for my parents to provide for their growing family. But God is so gracious to me, and He has chosen to save me from the depths of an impoverished Hindu family in this remote part of the world. As a young Hindu, Christian character and church attendance were unknown to me. But in the year 2004, after I finished school at the age of seventeen, I found it necessary to relocate to Kathmandu (the capital city of Nepal) in order to pursue a higher education. In Kathmandu, I had opportunity to go to church and become acquainted with other believers in Christ. At the age of 19 (in 2005) I accepted Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior. After my heart was transformed by Christ, I started to attend church on a regular basis, which has led me into a deeper love for the heart of God. My new life in Christ is radically different than the life I experienced during my youth. It is as different as night and day! After Christ saved me and transformed my life, I contemplated His deep sacrifice on my behalf. Jesus sacrificed his own body on the Cross in order to save me. He is the most precious thing in my life, and I purposed then to live my life for the glory of God. I prepared myself to serve Him—and Him only. I wanted to follow His own plan for my life, to allow Him to dictate my course, to guide me and to supply all my needs. I have known that if I remain in His Will, and if I follow His Heart in all things, then not only will I be blessed—but I can also be used as a channel of blessing to others. Believing this, as a new Christian, I started to pray that God would enable me to pursue theological studies for the purpose of preparing me for ministry. In 2006 my prayer was answered, and I was enabled to attend Bible College, from which I graduated in 2009. Since May of 2009, I have been continuously at work to further the cause of Christ in Nepal, through ministry. The heart of Christ is that His children will reach out in caring love to all those who are suffering—to the orphan, the widow, the poor, the unsaved, and also to every brother and sister in need. This is a picture of Christ’s own heart of love toward me, and He desires that I follow His example, even as He provides for my own needs and enables me to give to others. Unfortunately, the physical needs of my people have suddenly become extreme, due to the terrible earthquake disaster which struck us earlier this year, on April 25 (2015). Thousands of people were killed, and a similar number became physically disabled, due to injuries. Many children became orphans when their parents perished in the rubble, and many families lost their homes. The need is intense, and it will take years to recover what has been lost. Children and adults who have become disabled are deeply suffering and are in need of love, encouragement, food, a helping hand and the Gospel of Christ. God has burdened my heart with prayer for greater opportunities to help my people during this time of need, and I am truly thankful for what He has already provided. I am thankful that He has enabled me over these past few months, to reach out during the rescue effort with relief supplies, re-settlement, and the heart of Christ for the suffering that I witnessed—and am still witnessing all around me. Earlier this year, God placed enough American funds into my hands so that I was enabled to distribute many pounds of rice to needy people here in Nepal. The video slideshow on our page is testimony to the joy with which this great gift was received! It means so much to us here in Nepal, to know that other Christians in other parts of the world care enough to reach out in our time of suffering and loss. It is my continual prayer that we might remain thankful in all circumstances, no matter how difficult or challenging—and that the glory of God will shine forth, through this ministry, as a testament to His enduring Love and Grace. Please consider joining me and my brothers and sisters in Christ in Nepal, in our efforts to reach out with God’s love, to our people. Thank you.
